The Centre was set up by the MHRD, Govt. of India, during sixth plan period in February 1983, with the main objectives as follows:
a) setting up of infrastructural facilities for training the teachers of engineering colleges/universities
b) carrying out R&D works in the area of microprocessor application andallied fields.
The Center offers short-term training programmes in the field ofcomputers. It also makes its infrastructural facilities available to students at all levels for their training and for Research and Developmental work.The Center is run by an administrative Committee comprising the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology (Chairman),the Co-Ordinator,and few other members.The center has conducted several short term teacher training programs on Microprocessor Applications of 3-10 week duration since December 1983 to July 1990.The said training programs were also extended for training of industrialpersonnel by taking token participation fee to suit their tailored requirements.The Centre has been conducting for long time short term courses on Unix &C(Now, Introduction to Linux & C Programming) for 10+2, graduates and engineering students taking some nominal fees.Besides training personnel, the facilities created by the center has been extended for the U. G., P. G. students and research scholars working in the allied areas.Faculty members associated with the center are actively involved in researchin cutting edge technology in the field of computer science & engineering.
